The Aljarafe, a magnificent region made up of 30 municipalities and located in the province of Seville, has managed to develop as a city in which progress and sustainable development are perfectly integrated, thus becoming a modern and balanced area.
Its municipalities are divided into 3 crowns, organised according to their proximity to the capital, with the first being the closest and the third furthest away. Thus Bormujos, Mairena del Aljarafe or Valencina, among others, are in the first; Bollullos, Espartinas or Umbrete in the second; and Aznalcazar, Pilas or Villamanrique in the third.
Mairena del Aljarafe was born as such in the period of Muslim rule with the name of ‘Maharana’ which means ‘Shepherds’ Herd’, as the Arabs made these lands into a farmhouse. However, the first settlers were the Romans who, attracted by the quality of the land, settled there, creating exceptional crops.
In the 60s and 70s, with the real estate boom, houses started to be built in these small villages, until then with a population of only 2,000 inhabitants, due to their proximity to the capital and because they were a residential area.
Why live in Aljarafe?
We are going to give you several reasons why you should live just a few minutes from Seville, away from the hustle and bustle but with the advantages of the big city:
It is only 9 km from Seville and has excellent communications (metro, bus and motorway with direct access to the centre of the capital). It has many green and recreational areas for children, cultural and sports facilities for young and old, including a great golf club in El Zaudín and shopping areas. Aljarafe now also has hospitals, a private university, television studios, hotels and a marina in Gelves. Several of Seville’s best international schools are located in the Aljarafe area. In recent times there has been an important commercial development, both for its industrial estates such as Manchón and PISA, as well as its shopping centres Airesur and Metromar, thus attracting a large number of inhabitants from the capital and neighbouring towns.
Escaping the stress of the big city in a family environment surrounded by nature with the comforts of modern life makes Aljarafe an ideal place to live. Finally, there is a difference of two degrees with respect to the city of Seville, making the temperatures mild in both winter and summer.
So, wouldn’t you like to live in Aljarafe?
